About Luke in the Bible
Colossians 4:14 calls Luke a beloved physician, Philemon 24 includes him among Paul's fellow workers, and 2 Timothy 4:11 records that Luke remained with Paul. Luke opens his Gospel by explaining his purpose: to give an orderly account so believers may know the certainty of what they have been taught (Luke 1:1-4). Acts continues the account, showing the Holy Spirit empowering Jesus' witnesses to spread the gospel from Jerusalem to the nations (Acts 1:1-8). Luke faithfully served with Paul through journeys, danger at sea, Malta, and Rome. His testimony points readers to Jesus and the gospel.
