Noah
Patriarch | Ark Builder | Farmer | Covenant Recipient
Noah walked with God in a corrupt generation and obeyed God's command to build the ark. Profile Notes
About Noah in the Bible
Genesis 6 describes Noah as a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, who walked with God. God warned Noah of the flood and instructed him to build an ark; Noah did everything God commanded (Genesis 6:13-22). Noah, his wife, their sons, and their sons' wives entered the ark, and the Lord shut them in (Genesis 7:7, 13, 16). God remembered Noah, brought the waters down, and the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat (Genesis 8:1-4). After the waters receded, Noah worshiped the Lord, who established a covenant with Noah, his descendants, and every living creature, giving the bow in the clouds as its sign (Genesis 8:20-9:17). Hebrews 11:7 highlights Noah's faith, and 1 Peter 3:20 refers to the eight people brought safely through the water. Genesis 9:20-21 also records Noah's later failure in the vineyard, reminding us that humanity still needed God's saving grace.
